**HOT DAMN SAN DIEGO**
A quick note of THANKS to all of you who sent in emails and/or called our city council. Yesterday, the San Diego City Council supported marriage equality by voting to sign on to the amicus briefs in the marriage equality case currently before the California Supreme Court.
The Councilmembers who voted “yes,” on the same measure on Sept. 4 (Scott Peters, Toni Atkins, Jim Madaffer and Ben Hueso), were joined by Councilmember Donna Frye, resulting in a 5-3 victory.
Mayor Sanders has just announced he will now sign the friend-of-the-court (amicus) brief to be presented to the California Supreme Court along with cities such as: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose and Long Beach. This is huge coming from a Republican City Mayor.
With the promise from the Governor's office to veto current Marriage Equality Legislation he has also promised to uphold the decision of the California Supreme Court so San Diego's addition is crucial in illustrating the current political standing for our civil liberties in the state of California.
Not only is important to urge our leaders to support civil liberties for all Californians it's also important to thank them. Please take the 30 seconds to call/write each of these members of our local government to say thank you!
Mayor Jerry Sanders (619) 236-6330 -- jerrysanders@sandiego.gov

**URGENT SAN DIEGO**
September 18th (tomorrow) the San Diego City Council votes again on whether to sign on to a friend-of-the-court (amicus) brief in the marriage equality case currently before the California Supreme Court. Previously, in a 4-4 vote, two council members especially stunned our community by voting no on the issue and as a result, the City of San Diego failed to join other major California cities in supporting the marriage equality court case.
Please call today and leave a message or first thing in the morning before the Sept. 18 Council meeting. Call or e-mail those four Councilmembers who opposed the measure and strongly urge them to reconsider their vote on this issue of fundamental equality and human rights.
