Hey, only a few more weeks to grab the February issue of Instinct Magazine. This is their travel issue and the feature travel piece is my jaunt down to Costa Rica in December.

My mom just picked up an issue and this is the email I received. She is so fantastic! Haha!

"Bought Instinct tonight at Borders--one of these days I'm going to have to find the magazine on my own...it's too hard on those goth, pierced young guys to figure out if I'm in drag or what...he says, uh...gay men, general--is that the category you're looking for--did you look there--I say, well, I'm not sure where that is--so he takes me over there and all the customers are looking to see what this matronly, grey-haired lady is going to pick up--then the check out girl is double-taking mag, then me, then mag, then me trying to read the titles on the front all the time she is sliding it in the bag...anyway, the article is much better in print than online--they didn't have all of it or all the pix online...your dad got a kick out of the, "honestly, Mom, I just heard about it," line..."

For a sneak peak take a look at: http://instinctmag.com/feature2.html or to get the full article pick up an issue at any major bookstore.

Hey All!

Back in New York and again, freezing my a** off. It's a weird thing when you want to go back to Canada for the warm weather. From what I hear it is still waaay unseasonably warm for their winter.

Canada was absolutely fantastic. I'm just getting caught up and back to my New York routine. I had a chance to meet up with Judy Shepard and my friend Chris and others from the Matthew Shepard Foundation on Thursday. It was wonderful to see them again. It had been since the benefit in Denver last year, and the Foundation is really growing and doing some amazing things. Check out: http://www.matthewshepard.org

The benefit, "Embrace," was an amazing collection of Broadway talent. There were a montage of hilarious and emotional songs all to benefit the Foundation highlighted by my friend Randi Driscoll who wrote the song, "What Matters," a single that has raised over $40,000 for the MSF.

A really wonderful evening.

All the best,

-W

I am in LOVE with Quebec City. It has been absolutely amazing. We went to visit the Ice Hotel today. I am still in awe! We had drinks out of ice glasses. I got to get cozy in an ice bed with caribou fur! Not to mention the chapel with real stained ice windows...This city is fantastic. It truly is like coming to Paris...just a LOT closer! I can't imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer!

And the history. You learn a LOT about America from this perspective. I didn't realize Ben Franklin and good ole George Washington launched an attack on Quebec City! Not to mention the Canadian/American! WHAT? I was never taught this in school!

From the politics to the warmth of the people, it has been truly an amazing experience visiting Canada this last week. I return to New York tomorrow and while I look forward to heading back to my routine, I'm really going to go through some Canadian withdrawal.

All the best,

-W

Hey all! Just a quick note. Ottawa is fantastic! It's been a fun two days and I'm sad to move on but Montreal / Quebec City will have adventures all their own I am sure. From the opening ceremonies of Winterlude, to cooking class at The Cordon Bleu, to the interesting nightlife of Ottawa it's more than I ever imagined Ottawa to offer. I have just a few minutes before my train leaves. More when I get to Quebec City. So far I am absolutely falling in love with Canada. All the best, -W
