Hey All!

The tides are-a-changing. As I am sure most of you have heard Canada passed the Gay Marriage Bill! I am even more excited to head to Canada now. I really hope LGBT Americans make it a point to support our amazing neighbors to the north with not only rallying here in the states but with our TOURISM dollar. The bill still has to go through the Senate but it is expected to pass within the next few weeks. I find it simply amazing that as, supposedly, the free-est nation in the world we are so far behind progressive countries like Canada.

Above and beyond this - Spain has just legalized same sex marriage and gay adoption in a vote of 187-147.

Two posts ago I said, "The world is changing, if only one mom at a time." Now I can whole heartedly say, "The World is Changing, in only One Country at a Time!" Only 188 countries to go!

best!

Nova Scotia here we come! Heading out on assignment with Gay.com to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on Friday for a five day tour of Atlantic Canada. I can not wait. From what I hear this place is a great mix of gorgeous nature and just enough nightlife to keep you in plenty of trouble. Just locked in the final itinerary and it looks fantastic.

If any of you are up in Halifax for Canada Day, we'll be there seeing what it's all about at Reflection Cabaret. I can't wait. I'm considering it an early birthday celebration (July 6th for those who are sending gifts ;))

Then post Canada - heading to Washington DC for post production on, "Groom With a View," - then to San Diego for my sister's wedding where I'm officiating - LA then back to NYC. It's going to be a fun month!

All the best,

-W

PS. Here are some fun pics of Robb and I from the Broadway Bares benefit last weekend (more to come). The shirts are a joke people ;) Don't send me emails saying they're untasteful ;) Haha - It is a Broadway benefit...they are supposed to be tacky...for Robb it's true, however. HAHA! Kidding Robb. :)

When the country seems to be against you as a person (the slim margin failure of AB 19 in California - the failed gay marriage amendment) and you think our community may never get social equality there is a little light shown on your day.

My mom is heading down to San Diego to see my sister. We have two gay friends who own the condo above us there who've been friends of ours since we moved in. From flooding basements to broken garage doors to crawling into windows of locked condos they have been fantastic. The exciting news is that they went to Canada to get married this month and my mother (a replublican from West Texas) was so excited for them! She wrote this note just before she left for SD,

"...car partially loaded...about outta here...you should see my poppy seed cakes for John and Keith, Wes...a gold bow and two grooms..."

Haha! I love it. My mother actually went shopping for two grooms to place on top of one of her famous poppy seed cakes! The world is changing, if only at one mom at a time.

Best,

KABLAM! Holy Explosions Batman!

Well, I think this is the first time in my life my mother might be happy I was in a bar on a Thursday night! There was an explosion last night on the corner of my block that I found out about this morning when I got to work! WHAT?! I got a "worried about you" text from a friend this am who had seen on the news that there had been an explosion on the corner of Bleecker and Mercer. I haven't gotten all the details but it was all cleaned up and gone by the time I got home...(what time I won't say - I said my mom would be glad I was at a bar...not what time I got home. HA!)

I will be heading down to Washing D.C. next month to do some post production on, "Groom With A View." The trailer is hilarious and it should be hitting the film festival circuit in the fall. More information to follow.

New York is simply fantastic. The heat wave almost kicked my a** but now that it has cooled a bit I'm absolutely in love with the city.

All the best,

Wes
